Melting Ice Caps and Rising Seas: Coastal Communities Under Threat

The iconic images of melting glaciers and ice caps are a stark reminder of the reality of climate change.  As these ice masses melt, they contribute to rising sea levels, threatening coastal communities around the world.  Island nations are particularly vulnerable, facing the prospect of losing their homes and livelihoods entirely.  But even inland areas are at risk, as rising sea levels can lead to increased flooding and saltwater intrusion, contaminating freshwater sources and damaging agricultural land.  The rising seas are a ticking time bomb for coastal populations.
