Food Security and Human Health: A Looming Crisis

Climate change has profound implications for food security and human health.  Changes in temperature and rainfall patterns can disrupt agriculture, leading to decreased crop yields and food shortages.  Extreme weather events can destroy crops and livestock, further exacerbating the problem.  At the same time, climate change is increasing the spread of vector-borne diseases like malaria and dengue fever.  Heat stress can lead to heatstroke and other health problems, particularly for vulnerable populations.  The combined effects of food insecurity and health risks pose a serious threat to human well-being, especially in developing countries.
